San Pedro has a deep stock of older housing along with post-war neighborhoods and a lot of rental property, so we see everything from original cast iron tubs to fiberglass and acrylic shower stalls. A common call here is a surface that’s stained rather than damaged — the fixture is sound, but no amount of cleaning brings it back.
We handle:
Here’s a recent reglazing project we completed in San Pedro — a fiberglass shower stall with staining on the bottom that wasn’t coming off no matter how hard it got scrubbed.
That’s a specific situation worth understanding, because it decides whether cleaning is even the right tool. Fiberglass has a thin gel coat on top, and years of use — especially years of scrubbing with abrasive cleaners — wear through it to the more porous material underneath. Once that happens, staining stops sitting on the surface and starts soaking into it. From then on, scrubbing does nothing for the stain and only wears the surface further, which is why an old shower floor gets harder to keep clean every year. At that point the surface is spent, and the fix is a new one rather than a stronger product.
So we started with a deep cleaning to strip everything that would come off, then repaired a couple of small holes and chips in the surface, filling them and bringing them flush so they wouldn’t show through the new finish.
Next we ran silicone all the way around the unit to seal it, and moved into masking. We masked the fixtures, walls, floor, and ceiling with paper and plastic film to keep overspray off every surface we weren’t coating.
After that we installed our ventilation, which blows the fumes outside and keeps both our crew and the people in the home safe during the spraying process. It’s a piece of equipment we bring to every job — refinishing coatings have a strong smell while they’re being applied, and there’s no reason for that to move through the rest of the house.
Then we sprayed the bright white finish in even coats. The floor came back clean and uniform — no stains, no visible repairs, just a smooth, bright surface. The homeowner was very happy with the result.
Every job finishes the same way: we hand over a post-care kit and our cleaning recommendations, so you know exactly how to keep the finish looking sharp — including which cleaners to avoid so the new surface doesn’t go the way the old one did.
This job was in San Pedro, and we cover the neighboring cities just as easily — Rancho Palos Verdes, Torrance, Lomita, Wilmington, and Long Beach.
If you’re scrubbing a stain that won’t budge, the surface is probably worn rather than dirty. Call (310) 401-4491 for an honest estimate — and if a good cleaning would actually fix it, we’ll tell you that instead.
