Bathtub reglazing services in Coachella

A shower can work just fine and still drag down the whole bathroom. Most of what we’re called for in Coachella is exactly that: fiberglass and acrylic units that function perfectly but look dull, dated, and stained after years of hard valley water. Refinishing resets the look in a single visit, without demolition and without a remodel-sized budget.

We handle:

  • Fiberglass and acrylic tub & shower stall reglazing
  • Porcelain and cast iron tub reglazing
  • Hard water, stain, and discoloration restoration
  • Chip, crack, and hole repair
  • Caulk and silicone replacement
  • Tile, grout, vanity top, and sink refinishing

A recent job: dated fiberglass shower stall refinished in Coachella, CA

Our customer in Coachella had a fiberglass shower stall in pretty good shape mechanically. The water ran, nothing leaked, the door worked. She just didn’t enjoy looking at it anymore. The color had gone dull, the surface read as dated, and she wanted it brought back to something clean and current without gutting the bathroom to get there.

We started where every job starts, with cleaning — but this stall needed more than a wipe-down. It had a molded tile-imitation pattern on the walls, and over the years the recessed lines between those fake tiles had collected dirt that had worked its way into a stain. A lot of what made the shower look old was sitting right in those grooves. So we went down each of those lines with a brush, lifting out the staining and buildup the surface had held onto, until the pattern looked crisp again instead of grimy.

The next culprit was the caulk and silicone. Old caulk is one of the biggest reasons a shower looks aged, even when everything else is fine. It yellows, it darkens, it pulls away at the edges, and your eye catches it the moment you walk in. We removed the old caulking and silicone completely, both inside the stall and outside along the shower rail, then laid down a fresh, clean bead in its place. That step alone makes a real difference before any coating ever goes on.

With the surface clean and resealed, we masked off the whole room — and took the extra step of masking the shower frame itself, since the customer was keeping it. The goal was to land the coating only on the shower surface and nowhere else.

Then the coating: an adhesive primer to bond to the fiberglass, followed by our bright white finish, going on as an even mist and settling into a smooth, glossy surface. The dull, dated look was gone, replaced by a clean, crisp shower that matched the bright, updated feel the customer had been picturing. She was extremely pleased — and that lift you get walking into a bathroom that finally feels fresh is most of the point, especially when it didn’t take a demolition crew to get there.

What reglazing can and can’t fix

We’d rather set expectations honestly than have you find out after the fact. Here’s the straight version.

What it fixes well:

  • Dull, faded, chalky surfaces
  • Staining and discoloration that has worked into the surface
  • Hard water etching
  • Chips, small holes, and scratches
  • Cracks in a surface that’s still firm underneath
  • Screw holes and silicone residue from removed hardware
  • Old caulk lines that have yellowed or pulled away
  • A color you don’t like — pink, almond, blue, green to bright white
  • Rust spots, when they’re ground out and sealed properly
  • A previous paint job or failed reglaze that’s peeling
  • Grout that’s worn or missing, on tile surfaces

What it doesn’t fix:

  • A tub or pan cracked all the way through. If it’s leaking, that’s a replacement — a coating is not a structural repair.
  • A soft or flexing floor where the substrate underneath has failed. We can rebuild some of these with structural foam; when we can’t, we’ll say so.
  • Rust that has eaten through the metal. Once there’s a hole rather than a corroded patch, the tub is past saving.
  • Anything about the size, shape, or layout. If the tub is too small or in the wrong place, refinishing won’t change that.
  • A shower that leaks behind the wall. That’s a plumbing or waterproofing problem. Fix it first, then refinish.
  • Mold inside the wall. We treat mold on the surface and in the silicone. Mold behind the tile is remediation work, not ours.

One honest limitation on results: a refinished surface looks like new, and on most jobs you can’t tell. But it’s a coating over an existing fixture, not a new fixture — if a tub has significant unevenness or damage across a wide area, a very close look in bright light may show it. We’ll tell you if we expect that on your tub rather than let you discover it.

Every job finishes the same way: we hand over a post-care kit and our cleaning recommendations, so you know exactly how to keep the finish looking sharp.

This job was in Coachella, and we cover the neighboring cities just as easily — Indio, Thermal, Mecca, La Quinta, and Palm Desert.

If your tub or shower works fine but you’re tired of looking at it, that’s reason enough. Call (310) 401-4491 for an honest estimate — and if reglazing isn’t the right answer for your situation, we’ll tell you that too.

Ilia is amazing at what he does and I whole heartedly recommend him. We have an old cast iron tub that has been reglazed once before, but it suddenly started peeling. I called Ilia, who answered right away, and said that he could come out on a holiday weekend to do the job. He was always prompt and courteous in his communications and his work was top notch!
