Bathtub reglazing services in Crestline

Up here near Lake Gregory, a good share of the homes are cabins and weekend places — used hard on the weekends, sitting in a damp mountain climate the rest of the time. The fixture we refinish most is the one-piece fiberglass tub and shower combo, because that combination of seasonal use and constant damp is rough on it. The finish goes dull, mildew works into the caulk, and grime settles into the textured floor until the whole unit looks dingy.

We handle:

  • Fiberglass and acrylic tub & shower combo reglazing
  • Mildewed caulk removal and fresh sealing
  • Porcelain and cast iron tub reglazing
  • Textured anti-slip floor cleaning and restoration
  • Chip, crack, and hole repair
  • Cabin and rental refreshes scheduled around your season

A recent job: rental cabin combo in Crestline, CA

The combo we worked on recently was in a rental cabin, and the owner wanted it looking sharp for guests without shutting the place down for a remodel.

That’s worth pausing on, because replacing a one-piece unit in an older cabin is rarely as simple as ordering a new one. Cabin bathrooms tend to be small, the framing is often not to any current standard, and a one-piece combo has to physically fit through the doorways to get in — which is a real problem in houses built decades ago around narrower halls. Between that and the wall repairs a tear-out leaves behind, a straightforward-sounding swap turns into a project. Reglazing sidesteps all of it, because we refinish the unit right where it sits.

The textured floor is where the time goes on a combo. That anti-slip pattern grips your feet, but it also traps dirt and soap film down in the low spots where a sponge never reaches, so we scrubbed it out thoroughly before anything else. From there it was a deep clean of the full enclosure, then a light sanding over the whole surface to knock the gloss down and give the coating a base to grab.

The mildewed caulk came out next. Mildew in a caulk line isn’t really a cleaning problem — it grows into the silicone itself, which is why it keeps coming back no matter how hard you scrub it. The only real fix is to take the old bead out and lay a fresh one, which is what we did, sealing the seams tight in the process. After masking the bathroom and setting up ventilation, we primed the fiberglass and sprayed several coats of bright white.

The dull, mildewed unit came back bright and clean, looking like a fresh install. For a cabin or a rental you want presentable without the chaos of a tear-out, that’s hard to beat.

Timing matters on a rental, so here’s how the day shaped up. The bulk of a combo job is prep — scrubbing the floor out, cleaning, sanding, masking — and once the finish goes on it needs time to cure before anyone uses it. We laid it out for the owner so they could block the calendar around it: one day on site, a short cure window after, and the unit was ready for the next set of guests. One visit, not contractors trooping up the mountain in shifts.

One thing worth skipping: the roll-on refinishing kits from the hardware store. On a damp mountain surface those rarely bond and tend to peel within a season.

Every job finishes the same way: we hand over a post-care kit and our cleaning recommendations — worth leaving with whoever cleans between rentals. The work is backed by our 4-year warranty.

This job was in Crestline, and we cover the surrounding mountain communities just as easily — Lake Arrowhead, Running Springs, Big Bear, Cedarpines Park, and Valley of Enchantment.

Whether it’s a tired tub and shower combo or a worn tub anywhere nearby, refinishing usually beats replacing. Call (310) 401-4491 for an honest estimate — if reglazing isn’t right for your unit, we won’t try to talk you into it.

Ilia is amazing at what he does and I whole heartedly recommend him. We have an old cast iron tub that has been reglazed once before, but it suddenly started peeling. I called Ilia, who answered right away, and said that he could come out on a holiday weekend to do the job. He was always prompt and courteous in his communications and his work was top notch!
