Reglazing instead of replacing saves thousands of dollars and days of demolition mess.
Rosemead is mostly post-war housing with a good share of rental property, and the bathrooms reflect that — fiberglass and acrylic shower stalls and tub surrounds, plus original porcelain tubs in the older homes. Often nothing is actually broken; the surface has just gone dull and the seals have aged badly, which is exactly what refinishing is for.
We handle:
Here’s a recent reglazing job we completed in Rosemead — a fiberglass shower stall that didn’t have much wrong with it structurally. No cracks, no holes. The problem was the old silicone running along the shower frame, which had gone yellow.
Yellowed silicone is one of those things that makes an otherwise fine shower look neglected. Silicone discolors as it ages, and once it does there’s nothing to be done about it — you can’t clean the yellow out, because the color change is in the material itself. Worse, aged silicone shrinks and pulls away at the edges, which opens a path for water and for mildew to get in behind it. At that point the only real fix is to take it out and start with a fresh bead.
So that’s where we started: removing the silicone, inside the stall and outside along the frame.
Then the deep cleaning, which on this unit meant brushing out each of the lines between the fake tiles. Those recessed channels are where soap scum and the greenish grime collect worst, because they sit lower than the surrounding surface and ordinary cleaning passes right over them. You have to physically work a brush through each line to lift it out. Leave it and the coating has something fighting it from day one.
Once the stall was scrubbed out we dried it completely — a coating won’t bond to a damp surface, and this isn’t a step to rush — then ran new silicone all the way along the shower frame to seal it back up properly.
After that we masked the walls, floor, and ceiling to keep overspray contained, and in the final stage sprayed the bright white finish in even coats. The stall came out bright and clean, with crisp lines through the molded tile pattern and a fresh seal along the frame instead of a yellowed one.
Every job finishes the same way: we hand over a post-care kit and our cleaning recommendations, so you know exactly how to keep the finish looking sharp.
This job was in Rosemead, and we cover the neighboring cities just as easily — El Monte, Temple City, San Gabriel, Monterey Park, and Alhambra.
